Pregnancy of Aknefug Mino in details

sponsored

Aknefug Mino crosses the placenta.

Tetracycline-class antibiotics may cause fetal harm following maternal use in pregnancy. Rare spontaneous reports of congenital anomalies, including limb reduction, have been reported following maternal Aknefug Mino use. Due to limited information, a causal association cannot be established. Tetracyclines accumulate in developing teeth and long tubular bones (Mylonas 2011). Permanent discoloration of teeth (yellow, gray, brown) can occur following in utero exposure and is more likely to occur following long-term or repeated exposure.

As a class, tetracyclines are generally considered second-line antibiotics in pregnant women and their use should be avoided (Mylonas 2011). Aknefug Mino is not recommended for the treatment of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (Biggs 2016), Q fever (Anderson 2012), or anthrax infection (Meaney-Delman 2014) in pregnant women. Agents other than Aknefug Mino are recommended when systemic antibiotics are needed to treat acne during pregnancy (AAD [Zaenglein 2016]).

Aknefug Mino is excreted into human milk. Theoretical risks of dental staining and inhibition of bone growth exist but are unlikely. Tetracycline, a related drug, is considered compatible with breast-feeding by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The manufacturer recommends that due to the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants, a decision should be made to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
