Like all medicines, Bromhexine hydrochloride (Cecoril) can have side effects. Bromhexine hydrochloride (Cecoril) is, in general, easily digested, both in the short
and the long-term.
Very exceptionally: queasiness, a heavy feeling in the stomach.

doctor or pharmacist.
Bromhexine hydrochloride (Cecoril) contraindications
Bromhexine hydrochloride SYRUP is contra-indicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sympathomimetic amines or any of the other ingredients; hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy; and tachyarrhythmia.
Sympathomimetics, such as orciprenaline sulphate, may interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI), and therefore Bromhexine hydrochloride SYRUP should not be given to patients receiving such treatment or within 14 days of MAOI treatment termination.
Safety in pregnancy and lactation has not been established.

Guaiphenesin (Cecoril) Tablets are contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.
What are the possible side effects of Menthol (Cecoril)?
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. No COMMON side effects have been reported with Menthol (Cecoril). Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); redness or irritation at the application site.

Side effects of Menthol (Cecoril) in details
May cause hypersensitivity reactions such as cutaneous dermatitis. Ingestion of large amount of Menthol (Cecoril) may cause GI effects such as severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, ataxia, drowsiness and coma.
What is the most important information I should know about Menthol (Cecoril)?
- Menthol (Cecoril) is for external use only. Do not get it in your eyes, on your lips, or in your nose, mouth, or genital area. If you get it in any of these areas, rinse right away with cool tap water.
- If you use topical products too often, your condition may become worse.
- Do NOT use more than the recommended dose or use for longer than 1 week without checking with your doctor.
- If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days, if they get worse, or if they clear up and then come back again, contact your doctor.
- Menthol (Cecoril) is flammable. Do not store or use near an open flame or while smoking.
- Menthol (Cecoril) should not be used in CHILDREN younger than 12 years old without first checking with the child's doctor; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Menthol (Cecoril) while you are pregnant. It is not known if Menthol (Cecoril) is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Menthol (Cecoril), check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.

This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
What are the possible side effects of Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril)?
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
-
wheezing, choking, or other breathing problems after using Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril);
-
chest pain, fast heart rate;
-
pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest;
-
a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
-
a seizure;
-
low potassium level--leg cramps, constipation, irregular heartbeats, fluttering in your chest, increased thirst or urination, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness or limp feeling;
-
tremors; or
-
worsening or no improvement in your symptoms.
Common side effects may include:

fast or pounding heartbeats;
-
chest pain;
-
nervousness, tremor;
-
drowsiness; or
-
headache.

In addition to its needed effects, some unwanted effects may be caused by terbutaline (the active ingredient contained in Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril)). In the event that any of these side effects do occur, they may require medical attention.
Major Side Effects
You should check with your doctor immediately if any of these side effects occur when taking terbutaline:
More common:
- Shakiness in the legs, arms, hands, or feet
- trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
- Extra heartbeat
- feeling faint, dizzy, or lightheadedness
- feeling of warmth or heat
- flushing or redness of the skin, especially on the face and neck
- headache
- sweating
- Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
- excessive muscle tone
- muscle stiffness
- muscle tension or tightness
If any of the following symptoms of overdose occur while taking terbutaline, get emergency help immediately:
Symptoms of overdose:
- Arm, back, or jaw pain
- blurred vision
- chest pain or discomfort
- chest tightness or heaviness
- confusion
- convulsions
- decreased urine
- dizziness
- dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
- dry mouth
- fainting
- fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
- general feeling of discomfort or illness
- increased thirst
- loss of appetite
- mood changes
- muscle pain or cramps
- nausea or vomiting
- nervousness
- numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
- pounding in the ears
- seizures
- shortness of breath
- sleeplessness
- slow or fast heartbeat
- trouble sleeping
- unable to sleep
- unusual tiredness or weakness
Minor Side Effects
Some of the side effects that can occur with terbutaline may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. Your health care professional may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects. If any of the following side effects continue, are bothersome or if you have any questions about them, check with your health care professional:

- Sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
- Anxiety
- lack or loss of strength
- Fever
- rash
- redness, soreness, or itching skin
- seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
- sores, welting, or blisters
What is the most important information I should know about Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril)?
- Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril) may cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril) with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
- Do NOT take more than the recommended dose or use for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor.
- If your breathing problems do not improve, if they get worse after using Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril), or if you need to use Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril) more often than usual, contact your doctor immediately.
- Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril) before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
- Diabetes patients - Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril) may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely. Ask your doctor before you change the dose of your diabetes medicine.
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril) if you have taken an MAOI (eg, phenelzine) or a tricyclic antidepressant (eg, amitriptyline) within the last 2 weeks. The effects of these medicines are long lasting and may still interact with Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril).
- Terbutaline sulphate (Cecoril) should not be used in CHILDREN younger than 12 years; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
