What is Chem Mart Amoxycillin?
Penicillins are used to treat infections caused by bacteria. They work by killing the bacteria or preventing their growth.
There are several different kinds of penicillins. Each is used to treat different kinds of infections. One kind of penicillin usually may not be used in place of another. In addition, penicillins are used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. They are sometimes given with other antibacterial medicines (antibiotics). Some of the penicillins may also be used for other problems as determined by your doctor. However, none of the penicillins will work for colds, flu, or other virus infections.
Penicillins are available only with your doctor's prescription.
Once a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use, experience may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although these uses are not included in product labeling, penicillins are used in certain patients with the following medical conditions:
- Chlamydia infections in pregnant women—Chem Mart Amoxycillin and ampicillin
- Gas gangrene—Penicillin G
- Helicobacter pylori-associated gastritis or peptic ulcer disease—Chem Mart Amoxycillin
- Leptospirosis—Ampicillin and penicillin G
- Lyme disease—Chem Mart Amoxycillin and penicillin V
- Typhoid fever—Chem Mart Amoxycillin and ampicillin

Helicobacter pylori Infection
Triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori with clarithromycin and lansoprazole:
Chem Mart Amoxycillin, in combination with clarithromycin plus lansoprazole as triple therapy, is indicated for the treatment of patients with H. pylori infection and duodenal ulcer disease (active or 1 year history of a duodenal ulcer) to eradicate H. pylori. Eradication of H. pylori has been shown to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence.
Dual therapy for H. pylori with lansoprazole:
Chem Mart Amoxycillin, in combination with lansoprazole delayed-release capsules as dual therapy, is indicated for the treatment of patients with H. pylori infection and duodenal ulcer disease (active or 1 year history of a duodenal ulcer) who are either allergic or intolerant to clarithromycin or in whom resistance to clarithromycin is known or suspected. Eradication of H. pylori has been shown to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence.
Usage
To reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and maintain the effectiveness of Chem Mart Amoxycillin and other antibacterial drugs, Chem Mart Amoxycillin should be used only to treat infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria. When culture and susceptibility information are available, they should be considered in selecting or modifying antibacterial therapy. In the absence of such data, local epidemiology and susceptibility patterns may contribute to the empiric selection of therapy.

What other drugs will affect Chem Mart Amoxycillin?
Allopurinol: Concurrent administration may increase the incidence of rash and other allergic skin reactions.
Anticoagulants: There are rare reports of prolongation of prothrombin time in patients concomitantly on Chem Mart Amoxycillin. It is recommended that appropriate monitoring is carried out when Chem Mart Amoxycillin is prescribed concurrently with anticoagulants.
Oral Contraceptives:
In common with other antibiotics, Chem Mart Amoxycillin may affect the gut flora, leading to lower oestrogen reabsorption and reduced efficacy of combined oral contraceptives.Probenecid: Decreases the renal tubular secretion of Chem Mart Amoxycillin. Concurrent use with Chem Mart Amoxycillin may result in increased and prolonged blood levels of Chem Mart Amoxycillin.
Laboratory Tests: Glucose in Urine: Due to the high urinary concentrations of Chem Mart Amoxycillin, false positive readings are common with chemical methods.
The use of enzymatic glucose oxidase methods is recommended, as there is no interference from Chem Mart Amoxycillin.

What are the possible side effects of Chem Mart Amoxycillin?
. Overdosage
In case of overdosage, discontinue medication, treat symptomatically, and institute supportive measures as required. If the overdosage is very recent and there is no contraindication, an attempt at emesis or other means of removal of drug from the stomach may be performed. A prospective study of 51 pediatric patients at a poison-control center suggested that overdosages of less than 250 mg/kg of Chem Mart Amoxycillin are not associated with significant clinical symptoms and do not require gastric emptying.3
Interstitial nephritis resulting in oliguric renal failure has been reported in a small number of patients after overdosage with Chem Mart Amoxycillin.
Crystalluria, in some cases leading to renal failure, has also been reported after Chem Mart Amoxycillin overdosage in adult and pediatric patients. In case of overdosage, adequate fluid intake and diuresis should be maintained to reduce the risk of Chem Mart Amoxycillin crystalluria.
Renal impairment appears to be reversible with cessation of drug administration. High blood levels may occur more readily in patients with impaired renal function because of decreased renal clearance of Chem Mart Amoxycillin. Chem Mart Amoxycillin may be removed from circulation by hemodialysis.
