Pregnancy of Glycerin (Dexem) in details
Glycerin (Dexem) has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have not been reported. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Glycerin (Dexem) is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.

Category C: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus.

FDA pregnancy category: C Use Tromethamine (Dexem) only if clearly needed.
Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. FDA pregnancy category C: Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
