Overdose of Dricod in details

Overdose with Dricod (Sinecod) may cause the following symptoms: Somnolence, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness and hypotension.

The usual emergency assistance must be under taken: Gastric lavage, activated charcoal, monitoring and treatment of the vital functions if required. There is no known specific antidote.

Dricod warnings

. Due to inhibition of the cough reflex by Dricod. the simultaneous administration of an expectorant may induce the accUmulation of mucus in the respiratory tract. which increases the risk of bronchospasm and airways infection.

. Do not us Dricod syrup in children less than 12 years of age unless directed by medicine.

. If the cough lasts for more than 7 days. ask a doctor for advice.

. Pregnancy: Butamira:e should not be used during the first trimester of preg:ancv. Durin the remainder of pregnancy. Dricod can he used if definitely indicated.

. Dricod should not be given while breast feeding unless urgently indicated, and then only after weighing the potential benefit to the mother against the risk of the baby.

Due to inhibition of the cough reflex by Dricod, the simultaneous administration of expectorants has to be avoided, because it may lead to the stagnation of the mucus in the respiratory tract, which increases the risk of bronchospasm and airways infection.

A doctor or pharmacist needs to be consulted if the cough persists for more than 7 days.

Information Concerning Excipients: Syrup: Sorbitol: Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance should not take this medicine.

Ethanol: This medicinal product contains small amounts of ethanol (21.85 mg/5 mL), less than 100 mg per dose.

Tablet: Lactose Monohydrate: Patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take this medicine.

Effects on the Ability to Drive or Use Machines: Dricod (Sinecod) may cause somnolence in rare cases. It may have minor influence on the ability to drive and use machines. Caution should therefore be observed while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness (e.g. operating machines).

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation: Safety for use during pregnancy and lactation has not been evaluated in specific studies.

Use should be avoided during the first three months of pregnancy. During the rest of pregnancy, Dricod (Sinecod) should be used only if drug therapy is essential.

It is not known whether the active substance and/or its metabolites pass into breast milk.

For safety reasons, as a general rule, the benefits and risks of taking Dricod (Sinecod) during lactation should be carefully considered.
