Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:
Less common
- Burning or stinging
After application, eye ointments may be expected to cause your vision to blur for a few minutes.

In addition to its needed effects, some unwanted effects may be caused by Emorex N Berna (the active ingredient contained in Emorex N Berna). In the event that any of these side effects do occur, they may require medical attention.
Major Side Effects
You should check with your doctor immediately if any of these side effects occur when taking Emorex N Berna:
Rare
- Any loss of hearing
- clumsiness
- diarrhea
- difficulty in breathing
- dizziness
- drowsiness
- greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
- increased amount of gas
- increased thirst
- light-colored, frothy, fatty-appearing stools
- ringing or buzzing or a feeling of fullness in the ears
- skin rash
- unsteadiness
- weakness
Minor Side Effects
Some of the side effects that can occur with Emorex N Berna may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. Your health care professional may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects. If any of the following side effects continue, are bothersome or if you have any questions about them, check with your health care professional:

- Irritation or soreness of the mouth or rectal area
- nausea or vomiting
What is the most important information I should know about Emorex N Berna?
- Contact your doctor right away if stomach pain or cramps, severe diarrhea, or bloody stools occur. Do not treat diarrhea without first checking with your doctor.
- Be sure to use Emorex N Berna solution for the full course of treatment. If you do not, the medicine may not clear up your infection completely. The bacteria could also become less sensitive to this or other medicines. This could make the infection harder to treat in the future.
- Emorex N Berna solution only works against bacteria; it does not treat viral infections (eg, the common cold).
- Long-term or repeated use of Emorex N Berna solution may cause a second infection. Tell your doctor if signs of a second infection occur. Your medicine may need to be changed to treat this.
- Lab tests, including hearing tests, may be performed while you use Emorex N Berna solution. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
- Emorex N Berna solution should not be used in CHILDREN younger than 6 months old; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Emorex N Berna solution while you are pregnant. It is not known if Emorex N Berna solution is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Emorex N Berna solution.
Emorex N Berna contraindications
You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to Emorex N Berna or similar antibiotics such as amikacin (Amikin), gentamicin (Garamycin), kanamycin (Kantrex), paromomycin (Humatin, Paromycin), streptomycin, or tobramycin (Nebcin, Tobi).
You should not take Emorex N Berna if you have ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, a blockage in your intestines, or other inflammatory bowel disease.
Do not use Emorex N Berna if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn baby.
Before you take Emorex N Berna, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, myasthenia gravis, or Parkinson's disease.
Never take Emorex N Berna in larger amounts than recommended, or for longer than 2 weeks. High doses or long-term use of Emorex N Berna can cause serious kidney problems, or hearing loss that may not be reversible. The longer you take Emorex N Berna, the more likely you are to develop these serious side effects.
To be sure this medication is not causing harmful effects, your kidney function, and your nerve and muscle function will need to be tested often. You may also need hearing tests. Emorex N Berna can have long lasting effects on your body. Do not miss any follow up visits to your doctor for blood or urine tests.
Emorex N Berna can harm your kidneys, and this effect is increased when you also use certain other medicines harmful to the kidneys. Before using Emorex N Berna, tell your doctor about all other medicines you use. Many other drugs (including some over-the-counter medicines) can be harmful to the kidneys.
If you are being treated for hepatic coma, avoid eating foods that are high in protein. Follow your doctor's instructions about any other restrictions on food, beverages, or activity.
