What are the possible side effects of Benzoin (Friar's Balsam)?
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. When used in small doses, no COMMON side effects have been reported with this product. Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); fever; persistent or worsening irritation, pain, or redness.

What is the most important information I should know about Benzoin (Friar's Balsam)?
- Avoid getting Benzoin (Friar's Balsam) in your eyes or nose.
- Do NOT exceed the recommended dose or use Benzoin (Friar's Balsam) for more than 7 days without checking with your doctor.
- If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days, or if they get worse, contact your doctor or dentist.
- Benzoin (Friar's Balsam) may be harmful if swallowed. Do not swallow Benzoin (Friar's Balsam). If you accidentally swallow Benzoin (Friar's Balsam) seek medical attention or contact a poison control center immediately.
- Benzoin (Friar's Balsam) is flammable. Keep it away from sparks, heat, and flames.
- Supervise CHILDREN younger than 12 years of age when they use Benzoin (Friar's Balsam).
- Benzoin (Friar's Balsam) is not recommended for use in CHILDREN younger than 6 months of age. Safety and effectiveness in this age group have not been confirmed.
