What are the possible side effects of Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl?
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop taking Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat;
-
severe dizziness, anxiety, restless feeling, or nervousness;
-
easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; or
-
increased blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, trouble concentrating, chest pain, numbness, seizure).
Keep taking Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl and talk to your doctor if you have any of these less serious side effects:
-
dizziness or headache;
-
feeling excited or restless;
-
sleep problems (insomnia);
-
nausea, vomiting, or stomach upset;
-
mild loss of appetite;
-
warmth, tingling, or redness under your skin; or
-
skin rash or itching.
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect.
Side effects of Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl in details
Nausea or headache may occur. If either of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
If your doctor has directed you to use this medication, remember that he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Tell your doctor right away if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: dizziness, fainting, fast/irregular/pounding heartbeat, mental/mood changes (such as anxiety, confusion, nervousness, irritability), shaking (tremor), trouble sleeping, difficult/painful urination.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

What is the most important information I should know about Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl?
- Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl may cause dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
- Do not take appetite suppressants while you are taking Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl without checking with your doctor.
- Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl has pseudoephedrine in it. Before you start any new medicine, check the label to see if it has pseudoephedrine in it too. If it does or if you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
- Do NOT take more than the recommended dose or use for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor.
- If your symptoms do not get better within 5 to 7 days or if they get worse, check with your doctor.
- Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl may interfere with certain lab test results. Make sure that all of your doctors and lab personnel know that you are taking Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl.
- Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
- Use Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
- Caution is advised when using Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl in CHILDREN; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant while taking Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl while pregnant. It is not known if Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl.
Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCl contraindications
The product is contraindicated in patients who have previously shown intolerance to pseudoephedrine or guaifenesin. It is also contraindicated in persons currently being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors, and also within two weeks of stopping such treatment. It is also contraindicated in persons with severe hypertension or severe coronary artery disease.
