What are the possible side effects of Imtack?

In addition to its needed effects, some unwanted effects may be caused by Imtack (the active ingredient contained in Imtack). In the event that any of these side effects do occur, they may require medical attention.

What is the most important information I should know about Imtack?

When used for long periods of time or at high doses, Imtack extended-release may not work as well and may require higher doses to obtain the same effect as when originally taken. This is known as TOLERANCE. Talk with your doctor if Imtack extended-release stops working well. Do not take more than prescribed. Some people who use Imtack extended-release for a long time may develop a need to continue taking it. People who take high doses are also at risk. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. If you stop taking Imtack extended-release suddenly, you may have WITHDRAWAL symptoms. These may include rapid heartbeat, chest pain, and even heart attack.

Do not use Imtack if you are taking sildenafil (Viagra). Serious, life-threatening side effects can occur if you take Imtack while you are using sildenafil.

You should not use this medication if you are allergic to Imtack, isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur, ISMO, Monoket), or nitroglycerin, or if you have early signs of a heart attack (chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling).

Before taking Imtack, tell your doctor if you have congestive heart failure, low blood pressure, or kidney disease.

Imtack can cause severe headaches, especially when you first start using it. These headaches may gradually become less severe as you continue to use the medication. Do not stop taking Imtack. Ask your doctor before using any headache pain medication.

Only the sublingual tablet should be used to treat an angina attack that has already begun.

Imtack regular and extended-release tablets are used to prevent angina attacks but will not treat an angina attack.

It is important to keep taking this medicine as directed to prevent an angina attack. Get your prescription refilled before you run out of medicine completely.

Do not stop taking Imtack suddenly. Stopping suddenly could cause a severe angina attack.
