Maalox Anti-Gas Extra Strength belongs to class of medications called surface active substances. It is an antifoaming agents and works by acting on inner lining of intestine and allowing gas bubbles to come together more easily helping to release trapped wind.
How should I take Maalox Anti-Gas Extra Strength?
Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Do not take more of this medication than is directed.
Maalox Anti-Gas Extra Strength works best if you take it after meals and at bedtime.
The Maalox Anti-Gas Extra Strength chewable tablet must be chewed before swallowing.
Measure liquid medicine with a special dose-measuring spoon or medicine cup. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
Maalox Anti-Gas Extra Strength liquid drops can be mixed with water, baby formula, or other liquids to make swallowing easier for an infant or child.
Children should never be given more than the recommended dose of Maalox Anti-Gas Extra Strength. Call your doctor if the child's gas symptoms do not improve after treatment with Maalox Anti-Gas Extra Strength.
Maalox Anti-Gas Extra Strength may be only part of a complete program of treatment that may also include a special diet or increased exercise. It is very important to follow the diet and exercise plan created for you by your doctor or nutrition counselor. You should become very familiar with the list of foods you must avoid to help control your condition.
Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Do not allow the liquid form of this medicine to freeze.
Maalox Anti-Gas Extra Strength administration
Oral: Chewable tablet: Chew thoroughly and swallow
Oral suspension (drops): Shake well before using; may mix with 30 mL water or other liquids.
Oral strips: Allow to dissolve on tongue.
