Maxima MD is a combined oral contraceptive. Each active tablet contains a small quantity of 2 different female hormones called Drospirenone (Maxima MD) (a progestogen) and Ethinylestradiol (Maxima MD) (an estrogen). Drospirenone (Maxima MD) possess antiandrogenic and mild antimineralocorticoid properties. The contraceptive effect of Drospirenone (Maxima MD) and Ethinylestradiol (Maxima MD) is based on the interaction of various factors eg, the inhibition of ovulation and changes in the endometrium.
