What are the possible side effects of Mlm-Dex?
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using Mlm-Dex and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

severe dizziness, anxiety, restless feeling, or nervousness;

confusion, hallucinations; or
-
slow, shallow breathing.
Less serious side effects are more likely, such as stomach upset.

Side effects of Mlm-Dex in details
Applies to Mlm-Dex: oral capsule, oral capsule liquid filled, oral elixir, oral liquid, oral lozenge/troche, oral solution, oral suspension, oral suspension extended release, oral syrup, oral tablet
In addition to its needed effects, some unwanted effects may be caused by Mlm-Dex (the active ingredient contained in Mlm-Dex Adult Formula). In the event that any of these side effects do occur, they may require medical attention.
Severity: Moderate
If any of the following side effects occur while taking Mlm-Dex, check with your doctor or nurse as soon as possible:
Symptoms of overdose:
- Blurred vision
- confusion
- difficulty in urination
- drowsiness or dizziness
- nausea or vomiting (severe)
- shakiness and unsteady walk
- slowed breathing
- unusual excitement, nervousness, restlessness, or irritability (severe)
Minor Side Effects
Some of the side effects that can occur with Mlm-Dex may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. Your health care professional may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects. If any of the following side effects continue, are bothersome or if you have any questions about them, check with your health care professional:
Less common or rare:
- Confusion
- constipation
- dizziness (mild)
- drowsiness (mild)
- headache
- nausea or vomiting
- stomach pain
What is the most important information I should know about Mlm-Dex?
- Mlm-Dex liquid may cause drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, or lightheadedness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Mlm-Dex liquid. Using Mlm-Dex liquid alone, with certain other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks.
- If your cough lasts for more than 1 week or comes back, or if you also have a fever, rash, or persistent headache, contact your health care provider. A persistent cough could be a sign of a serious condition.
- Mlm-Dex liquid contains Dextromethorphan. Before you being taking any new prescription or nonprescription medicine, read the ingredients to see if it also contains Dextromethorphan. If it does or if you are not sure, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
- Diabetes patients - Some brands of Mlm-Dex liquid may contain sugar and affect your blood sugar level. Read the label carefully before using Mlm-Dex liquid.
- Mlm-Dex liquid is not recommended for use in CHILDREN younger than 2 years of age. Safety and effectiveness in this age group have not been confirmed.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: It is unknown if Mlm-Dex liquid can cause harm to the fetus. If you become pregnant while taking Mlm-Dex liquid, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Mlm-Dex liquid during pregnancy. It is unknown if Mlm-Dex liquid is excreted in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Mlm-Dex liquid.
Mlm-Dex contraindications
Do not use Mlm-Dex if you have used an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) within the past 14 days. Serious, life-threatening side effects can occur if you take Mlm-Dex before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body.
Do not use any other over-the-counter cough, cold, or allergy medication without first asking your doctor or pharmacist. If you take certain products together you may accidentally take too much of one or more types of medicine. Read the label of any other medicine you are using to see if it contains Dextromethorphan.
