What happens if I overdose Motasone 0.1%?
Contact 1-800-222-1222 (the American Association of Poison Control Centers), your local, or emergency room immediately.
Proper storage of Motasone 0.1% inhalation solution:
Store Motasone 0.1% inhalation solution at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Do not puncture, break, or burn the canister even if it appears to be empty. Never throw the container into a fire. Contents are under pressure. Do not expose to temperatures above 120 degrees F (40 degrees C). Keep Motasone 0.1% inhalation solution out of the reach of children and away from pets.
Overdose of Motasone 0.1% in details
Symptoms: Excessive, prolonged use of topical corticosteroids can suppress pituitary-adrenal function resulting in secondary adrenal insufficiency.
Treatment: Appropriate symptomatic treatment is indicated. Acute hypercorticoid symptoms are virtually reversible. Treat electrolyte imbalance, if necessary. In cases of chronic toxicity, slow withdrawal of corticosteroids is advised.
Motasone 0.1% warnings
When you use Motasone 0.1%, you inevitably absorb some of the medication through your skin and into the bloodstream. Too much absorption can lead to unwanted side effects elsewhere in the body. To keep this problem to a minimum, avoid using large amounts of Motasone 0.1% over large areas, and do not cover it with airtight dressings such as plastic wrap or adhesive bandages unless specifically told to by your doctor.
Remember, Motasone 0.1% is for external use only. Avoid getting it into your eyes. Do not use it to treat anything other than the condition for which it was prescribed.
If your skin becomes irritated, call your doctor.
If you have any kind of skin infection, tell your doctor before you start using Motasone 0.1%.
Do not use Motasone 0.1% cream or ointment on your face, underarms, or groin area unless your doctor tells you to.
If your condition doesn’t improve in 2 weeks, call your doctor.
If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. Motasone 0.1% should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefit outweighs the potential risk to the unborn child.
You should not use Motasone 0.1% while breastfeeding, since absorbed hormone could make its way into the breast milk and perhaps harm the nursing baby. If you are a new mother, you should contact your doctor, who will help you decide between breastfeeding and using Motasone 0.1%.
What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Motasone 0.1%?
Some medical conditions may interact with Motasone 0.1% spray. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
- if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
- if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
- if you have active or inactive tuberculosis (TB) or a positive skin test for TB
- if you have diarrhea; a bacterial, fungal, or viral infection (eg, measles or chickenpox); a herpes infection in or around the eye; an immune system problem; or if you have recently received a vaccination
- if you have a history of glaucoma, increased pressure in the eye, or other eye problems (eg, cataracts)
- if you have recently had nasal sores, nasal surgery, or a nasal injury
Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Motasone 0.1% spray. Because, little, if any, of Motasone 0.1% spray is absorbed into the blood, the risk of it interacting with another medicine is low.
Ask your health care provider if Motasone 0.1% spray may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.
Motasone 0.1% precautions
Do not apply on damaged skin.
Avoid contact with the eyes and other mucous (oral and nasal) membranes.
Discontinue Motasone 0.1% and rinse affected areas thoroughly with running water if burning sensation and redness occurs. Consult a physician if necessary.
It should be used with caution in individuals with allergic constitution.
Do not use if appearance of Motasone 0.1% has changed.
Consult a physician or a pharmacist if: Symptoms do not alleviate after using Motasone 0.1% for 7 days; inflammation caused by bacteria or fungi occurs during application; using any other medicine at the same time with Motasone 0.1%.
Use in pregnancy & lactation: Pregnant and nursing women should use Motasone 0.1% with caution.
Use in children: Infants and children with skin atrophy are more sensitive to Motasone 0.1%. Use with caution.
Use in the
Elderly: Elderly with skin atrophy are more sensitive to Motasone 0.1%. Use with caution.
