Dosage of Ospen 250mg in details
Adults: 250-500 mg every 6 hrs.
Children: Suggested dosage for infants and children is 50 mg/kg body weight/day in 4 divided doses. To be given every 6 hrs.
Children 7-12 years: 5-10 mL (1-2 tsp) of Ospen 250mg 250 mg/5 mL; 3-6 years: 5-10 mL (1-2 tsp) of Ospen 250mg 125 mg/5 mL or 5 mL (1 tsp) of Ospen 250mg 250 mg/5 mL; 1-2 years: 5 mL (1 tsp) of Ospen 250mg 125 mg/5 mL or 2.5-5 mL of Ospen 250mg 250 mg/5 mL.
Usual duration of therapy is from 10-14 days. Or as prescribed by the physician.
Ospen 250mg interactions
Ospen 250mg should not be combined with bacteriostatic antibiotics. Combinations with other antibiotics should be considered if their effects can be expected to be synergistic or at least additive. The combination partners should be fully dosed. (Exception: In combination with a proven synergistic action, the dose of the more toxic combination partner may be reduced.) Competitive inhibition of drug elimination should be remembered, whenever anti-inflammatories, antirheumatics, antipyretics (particularly indomethacin, phenylbutazone, salicylates in high doses) or probenecid are used concomitantly. Ingestion of Ospen 250mg with meals reduce the absorption of the drug. Like other antibiotics, Ospen 250mg may reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives. During treatment with Ospen 250mg non-enzymatic urinary glucose tests and uribilinogen tests may be false-positive. Urinary amino acid quantitations with ninhydrin may also be false-positive.
