What happens if I overdose Pyrantel embonate?
Contact 1-800-222-1222 (the American Association of Poison Control Centers), your local, or emergency room immediately.
Proper storage of Pyrantel embonate:
Store Pyrantel embonate at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Pyrantel embonate out of the reach of children and away from pets.
What should I avoid while taking Pyrantel embonate?
Treatment of family members and other close contacts may be necessary. Pinworm is spread very easily to others in close contact with the infected person.
To prevent reinfection, toilets must be disinfected daily, and clothing, linens, towels, and pajamas must be changed and washed daily.
Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Pyrantel embonate may cause dizziness. If you experience dizziness, avoid these activities.
Pyrantel embonate warnings
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: liver disease, malnutrition, anemia, any allergies. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery if this medication makes you drowsy or dizzy. Pyrantel embonate should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if Pyrantel embonate is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Pyrantel embonate?
Some medical conditions may interact with Pyrantel embonate. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
- if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
- if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
- if you have worms other than pinworms
- if others in your home also have pinworms
Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Pyrantel embonate. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
- Piperazine because the effectiveness of Pyrantel embonate may be decreased

Pyrantel embonate precautions
Liver dysfunction, anaemia or severe malnutrition. Treat members in close contact with the patient.
What happens if I miss a dose of Pyrantel embonate?
Since Pyrantel embonate is usually taken in one dose, you are not likely to miss a dose.
