Overdose of Penicil in details
Symptoms: Agitation, confusion, asterixis, hallucinations, stupor, coma, multifocal myoclonus, seizures and encephalopathy, hyperkalaemia. Management: Symptomatic and supportive treatment.
Penicil warnings
Penicil is an antibiotic for treatment of infection Take at regular intervals, around the clock. Always finish course of therapy Take with or without meals May cause serious allergic reactions in those with penicillin allergy May cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea; notify your doctor or pharmacist if these occur.
Penicil precautions
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins & other β-lactams. History of allergy. High doses esp in poor renal function. Avoid skin contact. Spirochete infections, especially syphilis. Not for treatment of neurosyphilis. Superinfections. Intrathecal route. Monitor renal, hepatic & hematological status during prolonged & high-dose therapy. May interfere w/ urine glucose tests using copper sulfate, direct Coombs' test, test for urinary or serum proteins & Guthrie test.
