What are the possible side effects of Radblock?
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, rash; fever, swollen glands, joint pain; wheezing, difficult breathing, trouble swallowing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using Radblock (saturated) and call your doctor at once if you have:

fever, tiredness;
-
swelling in your neck or throat (enlarged thyroid, or goiter);
-
chest pain, irregular heartbeats;
-
numbness, tingling, pain, weakness, or swelling in your hands or feet;
-
a weak or heavy feeling in your legs; or
-
bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds.
High doses or long-term use of Radblock may cause iodine poisoning. Tell your doctor if you have symptoms such as burning in your mouth or throat, a metallic taste, tooth or gum pain, drooling, severe headache, cold symptoms (stuffy nose, sneezing) eye irritation, or severe skin rash.
Common side effects may include:

swelling or tenderness in your lower jaw;

rash; or
-
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach, or stomach pain.

Side effects of Radblock in details
Applies to Radblock: oral solution, oral syrup
In addition to its needed effects, some unwanted effects may be caused by Radblock (the active ingredient contained in Radblock). In the event that any of these side effects do occur, they may require medical attention.
Severity: Moderate
If any of the following side effects occur while taking Radblock, check with your doctor or nurse as soon as possible:
Less common:
- Hives
- joint pain
- swelling of arms, face, legs, lips, tongue, and/or throat
- swelling of lymph glands
- Burning of mouth or throat
- confusion
- headache (severe)
- increased watering of mouth
- irregular heartbeat
- metallic taste
- numbness, tingling, pain or weakness in hands or feet
- soreness of teeth and gums
- sores on skin
- symptoms of head cold
- unusual tiredness
- weakness or heaviness of legs
Minor Side Effects
Some of the side effects that can occur with Radblock may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. Your health care professional may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects. If any of the following side effects continue, are bothersome or if you have any questions about them, check with your health care professional:
Less common:
- Diarrhea
- nausea or vomiting
- stomach pain
What is the most important information I should know about Radblock?
- Do NOT take more than the recommended dose, or take Radblock solution more often or longer than recommended. Taking too much of Radblock solution may increase the risk of serious side effects.
- Do not use a salt substitute or a potassium supplement without checking with your doctor.
- Stop taking Radblock solution and contact your health care provider if any of the following signs of iodine poisoning occur: burning of the mouth or throat, severe headache, metallic taste in mouth, soreness of the teeth and gums, irritation of the eyes with swelling of the eyelids, or increased salivation.
- Caution is advised when using Radblock solution in CHILDREN; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
- PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: Radblock solution may cause harm to the fetus. If you think you may be pregnant, contact your doctor right away. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of taking Radblock solution while you are pregnant. Radblock solution is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you take Radblock solution, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
Radblock contraindications
Hypersensitivity to iodide, iodine, or any component of the formulation; dermatitis herpetiformis; hypocomplementemic vasculitis, nodular thyroid condition with heart disease
