Usual Adult Dose for Osteoarthritis
Hyalgan(R): 2 mL by intra-articular injection into the knee once weekly for 5 weeks
Supartz(TM): 2.5 mL by intra-articular injection into the knee once weekly for 5 weeks

Other Comments
Disinfectants containing quaternary ammonium salts will cause hyaluronic acid precipitation and should not be used for skin preparation.
Radiaplexrx should be used cautiously in patients who are allergic to avian products, feathers, and egg products.
If joint effusion is present, it should be removed before injection. A new syringe should be used for the injection.

Incompatibilities: Mixing of quaternary ammonium salts eg, benzalkonium chloride with Radiaplexrx solutions results in formation of a precipitate. Radiaplexrx should not be administered through a needle previously used with medical solutions containing benzalkonium chloride. Do not use disinfectants for skin preparation that contain quaternary ammonium salts.
