Uses of Simethicon Hi Pharm in details
This product is used to relieve symptoms of extra gas such as belching, bloating, and feelings of pressure/discomfort in the stomach/gut. Simethicone helps break up gas bubbles in the gut.
How to use Simethicon Hi Pharm
Take this product by mouth, usually after meals and at bedtime or as directed by your doctor. Swallow the capsules whole. Do not crush or chew the capsules. Follow all directions on the product package. If you are uncertain about any of the information, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
If you are self-treating with simethicone, the usual maximum amount for adults is 500 milligrams daily.
If your condition persists or worsens, or if you think you may have a serious medical problem, seek immediate medical attention.

A dopamine D2 antagonist that is used as an antiemetic.
Simethicon Hi Pharm dosage
Oral
Flatulence
Adult: 100-250 mg 3-4 times daily as required. May be given with an antacid.
Oral
Infant colic
Child: Infant: 20-40 mg to be given with feeds.
Simethicon Hi Pharm interactions
Before taking metoclopramide, tell your doctor if you regularly use other medicines that make you sleepy (such as cold or allergy medicine, sedatives, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures, depression, or anxiety). They can add to sleepiness caused by metoclopramide.
Tell your doctor about all other medications you use, especially:
acetaminophen (Tylenol);
cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune);
digoxin (digitalis, Lanoxin);
glycopyrrolate (Robinul);
levodopa (Larodopa, Atamet, Parcopa, Sinemet);
mepenzolate (Cantil);
tetracycline (Brodspec, Panmycin, Robitet, Sumycin, Tetracap, and others);
atropine (Donnatal, and others), benztropine (Cogentin), dimenhydrinate (Dramamine), methscopolamine (Pamine), or scopolamine (Transderm-Scop);
bladder or urinary medications such as darifenacin (Enablex), tolterodine (Detrol), or solifenacin (Vesicare);
bronchodilators such as ipratroprium (Atrovent) or tiotropium (Spiriva);
irritable bowel medications such as dicyclomine (Bentyl), hyoscyamine (Anaspaz, Cystospaz, Levsin), or propantheline (Pro-Banthine);
an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate); or
medicines to treat psychiatric disorders, such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine), clozapine (Clozaril, FazaClo), haloperidol (Haldol), olanzapine (Zyprexa, Symbyax), prochlorperazine (Compazine), risperidone (Risperdal), thiothixene (Navane), and others.
Simethicon Hi Pharm side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to metoclopramide: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using metoclopramide and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
tremors, or restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck;
mask-like appearance of the face;
very stiff (rigid) muscles, high fever, sweating, confusion, fast or uneven heartbeats, tremors, feeling like you might pass out;
depressed mood, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself;
hallucinations, anxiety, agitation, jittery feeling, trouble staying still;
swelling, fluid retention;
jaundice (yellowing of your skin or eyes); or
seizure (convulsions).
Less serious metoclopramide side effects may include:
feeling restless, drowsy, tired, or dizzy;
headache, sleep problems (insomnia);
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea;
breast tenderness or swelling;
changes in your menstrual periods; or
urinating more than usual.
Simethicon Hi Pharm contraindications
Simethicon Hi Pharm should not be used whenever stimulation of gastrointestinal motility might be dangerous, e.g., in the presence of gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, or perforation.
Simethicon Hi Pharm is contraindicated in patients with pheochro-mocytoma because the drug may cause a hypertensive crisis, probably due to release of catecholamines from the tumor. Such hypertensive crises may be controlled by phen-tolamine.
Simethicon Hi Pharm is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity or intolerance to the drug.
Simethicon Hi Pharm should not be used in epileptics or patients receiving other drugs which are likely to cause extrapyramidal reactions, since the frequency and severity of seizures or extrapyramidal reactions may be increased.
