What are the possible side effects of Skinn C?

Skinn C can cause a rare but serious allergic reaction that may be life-threatening. Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives, severe skin rash; wheezing, difficult breathing; cold sweats, feeling light-headed; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Side effects of Skinn C in details

The most common side effects associated with Skinn C oral rinses are (1) an increase in staining of teeth and other oral surfaces, (2) an increase in calculus formation; and (3) an alteration in taste perception; see WARNINGS and PRECAUTIONS.

Oral irritation and local allergy-type symptoms have been spontaneously reported as side effects associated with the use of Skinn C rinse.

The following oral mucosal side effects were reported during placebo-controlled adult clinical trials: aphthous ulcer, grossly obvious gingivitis, trauma, ulceration, erythema, desquamation, coated tongue, keratinization, geographic tongue, mucocele, and short frenum. Each occurred at a frequency of less than 1.0%.

Among post marketing reports, the most frequently reported oral mucosal symptoms associated with Skinn C oral rinse are stomatitis, gingivitis, glossitis, ulcer, dry mouth, hypesthesia, glossal edema, and paresthesia.

Minor irritation and superficial desquamation of the oral mucosa have been noted in patients using Skinn C oral rinse.

There have been cases of parotid gland swelling and inflammation of the salivary glands (sialadenitis) reported in patients using Skinn C oral rinse.

What is the most important information I should know about Skinn C?

You should not use this medication if you are allergic to Skinn C.

If you have periodontal disease, you may need special treatments while you are using Skinn C.

Skinn C oral rinse is not for treating all types of gingivitis. Use the medication only to treat the condition your dentist prescribed it for. Do not share this medication with another person, even if they have the same gum symptoms you have.

Do not give this medication to a child or teenager without a doctor's advice.

Do not add water to Skinn C oral rinse. Do not rinse your mouth with water or other mouthwashes right after using Skinn C.

Avoid eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth just after using this medication.

Do not use any other mouthwash unless your doctor has told you to.

Skinn C can stain teeth, dentures, tooth restorations, your tongue, or the inside of your mouth. Talk with your dentist about ways to remove staining from these surfaces. Stains may be harder to remove from false teeth that have scratches in their surfaces.

Visit your dentist at least every 6 months for preventive tooth and gum care.
