Sodium Phosphate, P-32 indications
Cleansing the bowel before certain medical procedures. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Monobasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32, dibasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32 is a saline laxative. It works by pulling water from the body into the bowel, which helps to soften the stool and cause a bowel movement.
Sodium Phosphate, P-32 description
Each 15 mL of Sodium Phosphate, P-32 contains monobasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32 7.2 g and dibasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32 2.7 g.
It also contains the following excipients: Flavor, glycerin, purified water.
Each tablespoon contains sodium 1668 mg, saccharin sodium, sodium benzoate.
Sodium Phosphate, P-32 is sugar-free.
Sodium Phosphate, P-32 dosage
Oral
Hypophosphataemia
Adult: Up to 100 mmol of phosphate daily.
Renal impairment: Dose reduction may be necessary.
Incompatibility: Incompatible with calcium salts.
Intravenous
Severe hypophosphataemia
Adult: As monobasic potassium phosphate: Up to 9 mmol of phosphate given over 12 hr, repeat 12 hrly if needed. Alternatively, 0.2-0.5 mmol/kg phosphate (max: 50 mmol), may be given over 6-12 hr.
Mild osmotic laxative for bowel evacuation and cleansing Adult: Usually contains monobasic and dibasic sodium phosphates but the composition and dosage may vary. Phosphate enemas work within 2-5 minutes. Use as directed. Renal impairment: Dose reduction may be necessary. Incompatibility: Incompatible with calcium salts. Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Monobasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32, dibasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32. However, no specific interactions with Monobasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32, dibasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32 are known at this time. Ask your health care provider if Monobasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32, dibasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32 may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine. Like all medicines, Sodium Phosphate, P-32 Enema can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Sodium Phosphate, P-32 Enema may occasionally cause: Dehydration. Allergic reactions (with or without rash). Muscle twitches and spasms due to changes in the amounts of salts (electrolytes) in the blood. Abdominal pain or bloating (distension). Gastrointestinal pain. Nausea or vomiting. Anal itching or stinging. Blisters. Diarrhoea. Chills. If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effect not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist. Do NOT use Monobasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32, dibasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32 if: you are allergic to any ingredient (Monobasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32, dibasic Sodium Phosphate, P-32). you have a blockage of the bowel or other severe bowel problems, congestive heart failure, kidney failure, or too much phosphate in the blood Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.
