What is Supramox/Supramox Forte?
Supramox/Supramox Forte (amoxicillin) is a penicillin antibiotic that fights bacteria.
Supramox/Supramox Forte is used to treat many different types of infection caused by bacteria, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, gonorrhea, and infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, or urinary tract.
Amoxicillin is also sometimes used together with another antibiotic called clarithromycin (Biaxin) to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. This combination is sometimes used with a stomach acid reducer called lansoprazole (Prevacid).
Supramox/Supramox Forte may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Supramox/Supramox Forte indications
For use Supramox/Supramox Forte as monotherapy and in combination with clavulanic acid: an infectious-inflammatory diseases caused by susceptible microorganisms, including bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, infections of the gastrointestinal tract, gynecological infections, infections of the skin and soft tissue, listeria, leptospirosis, gonorrhea.
For use Supramox/Supramox Forte in combination with metronidazole: chronic gastritis in acute, peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer in acute, associated with Helicobacter Pylori.
How should I use Supramox/Supramox Forte?
Use Supramox/Supramox Forte as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- An extra patient leaflet is available with Supramox/Supramox Forte. Talk to your pharmacist if you have questions about this information.
- Take Supramox/Supramox Forte by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
- Do NOT chew or swallow Supramox/Supramox Forte whole.
- Place Supramox/Supramox Forte in a small amount of water (about 2 teaspoons/10 mL). Do NOT use any other liquid. Swirl or stir until the tablet is completely mixed in the water. Drink right after mixing. Be sure to drink the entire mixture. Rinse the container with an additional small amount of water and drink to be sure all the medicine is taken.
- To clear up your infection completely, take Supramox/Supramox Forte for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days.
- If you miss a dose of Supramox/Supramox Forte, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Supramox/Supramox Forte description
Each Supramox/Supramox Forte capsules contains amoxicillin 250 or 500 mg.
Each 5 mL of Supramox/Supramox Forte and Supramox/Supramox Forte Forte oral suspension contains amoxicillin 125 mg and 250 mg, respectively.
Each mL of Supramox/Supramox Forte oral drops contain amoxicillin 100 mg.
Powder for
Oral Suspension/Oral Drops: Bottles of white powder (for reconstitution) with yellowish grains and a characteristic fruity odor. When reconstituted, a lemon-peach-strawberry flavored suspension is formed.
Supramox/Supramox Forte dosage
Individual. For oral single dose for adults and children over 10 years (body weight over 40 kg) is 250-500 mg, in case of serious illness - up to 1 g. For children aged 5-10 years, a single dose of 250 mg in age from 2 to 5 years - 125 mg for children aged under 2 years of daily dose is 20 mg / kg. For adults and children interval is 8 h. In the treatment of acute uncomplicated gonorrhea - 3 g once (in combination with probenecid). Patients with impaired renal function in creatinine clearance 10-40 ml / min interval between doses should be increased to 12 h and if creatinine clearance is less than 10 ml / min interval between doses should be 24 hours.
When parenteral use in adults IM - 1 g 2 times / day, IV (with normal renal function) - 2.12 g / day. Children IM 50 mg / kg / day, single dose - 500 mg, the frequency of administration - 2 times / day; IV - 100-200 mg / kg / day. Patients with impaired renal function the dose and the interval between the injections need to be adjusted in accordance with the values of creatinine clearance.

Probenecid decreases the renal tubular secretion of amoxicillin. Concomitant use with Supramox/Supramox Forte/Supramox/Supramox Forte Forte may result in increased and prolonged blood levels of amoxicillin.
In common with other antibiotics, Supramox/Supramox Forte/Supramox/Supramox Forte Forte may affect the gut flora, leading to lower estrogen reabsorption and reduced efficacy of combined oral contraceptives.
Concurrent administration of allopurinol during treatment with amoxicillin can increase the likelihood of allergic skin reactions.
It is recommended that when testing for the presence of glucose in urine during amoxicillin treatment, enzymatic glucose oxidase methods should be used. Due to the high urinary concentrations of amoxicillin, false-positive readings are common with chemical methods.
In the literature, there are rare cases of increased INR in patients maintained on acenocoumarol or warfarin and prescribed a course of amoxicillin. If co-administration is necessary, the prothrombin time or INR should be carefully monitored with the addition or withdrawal of Supramox/Supramox Forte/Supramox/Supramox Forte Forte.

Allergic reactions: urticaria, erythema, edema Quincke, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, rarely - fever, joint pain, eosinophilia, in rare cases - anaphylactic shock.
Side effects associated with chemotherapy effect: possible development of super-infection (particularly in patients with chronic diseases or low resistance of the organism).
With prolonged use at high doses: dizziness, ataxia, confusion, depression, peripheral neuropathy, seizures.
Mostly when Supramox/Supramox Forte used in combination with metronidazole: nausea, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, constipation, epigastric pain, glossitis, stomatitis; rarely - hepatitis, pseudomembranous colitis, allergic reactions (urticaria, angioedema), interstitial nephritis, a violation of hematopoiesis.
Mostly when Supramox/Supramox Forte used in combination with clavulanic acid: cholestatic jaundice, hepatitis, rarely - erythema multiforme, toxic epidermal necrolysis, exfoliative dermatitis.

Infectious mononucleosis, lymphatic leukemia, severe gastrointestinal infections, accompanied by diarrhea or vomiting, respiratory viral infection, allergic diathesis, bronchial asthma, hay fever, sensitivity to penicillin and / or cephalosporins.
