Syntaz cross the placenta.
Due to pregnancy-induced physiologic changes, some pharmacokinetic properties of Syntaz may be altered (Bourget 1998). Syntaz is approved for the treatment of postpartum gynecologic infections, including endometritis or pelvic inflammatory disease, caused by susceptible organisms.
Syntaz breastfeeding
Piperacillin (Syntaz) is excreted into human milk in small amounts. There are no data on the excretion of Tazobactam (Syntaz) into human milk. The manufacturer recommends that caution be used when administering Piperacillin (Syntaz)-Tazobactam (Syntaz) to nursing women.
