What happens if I overdose Torp?

Contact 1-800-222-1222 (the American Association of Poison Control Centers), your local poison control center, or emergency room immediately.

Proper storage of Torp:

Store Torp at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Torp out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Treatment: Specific treatment is not available for Torp overdosage. Should an overdosage occur, the patient should be treated symptomatically and supportive measures instituted, as required. Liver function tests and CPK levels should be monitored. Due to extensive drug binding to plasma proteins, hemodialysis is not expected to significantly enhance Torp clearance.

What should I avoid while taking Torp?

Avoid eating foods that are high in fat or cholesterol. Torp will not be as effective in lowering your cholesterol if you do not follow a cholesterol-lowering diet plan.

Avoid drinking alcohol. It can raise triglyceride levels and may increase your risk of liver damage.

Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may interact with Torp and lead to potentially dangerous effects. Discuss the use of grapefruit products with your doctor.

Torp warnings

Prior to and during treatment with Torp, especially if symptoms of liver damage, it is necessary to monitor liver function tests. With an increase in transaminase levels it should be monitored their activity up to normalization. If AST or ALT more than 3 times the norm persists, we recommend reducing the dose or withdrawal of Torp.

The children experience of Torp using at a dose of 80 mg / day is restricted.

Torp can cause a condition that results in the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, leading to kidney failure. This condition may be more likely to occur in older adults and in people who have kidney disease or poorly controlled hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid).

This medicine can harm an unborn baby or cause birth defects. Do not use if you are pregnant. Stop taking Torp and tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant Use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy while you are taking this medicine.

Torp may pass into breast milk and could harm a nursing baby. Do not breast-feed while you are taking Torp.

Torp is not approved for use by anyone younger than 10 years old.

Take special care with Torp Sandoz if patient consumes substantial quantities of alcohol; has or has ever had liver disease; has had a previous stroke with bleeding into the brain, or has small pockets of fluid in the brain from previous stroke; has kidney problems; has an under-active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism); if patient has had repeated or unexplained muscle aches or pains, a personal history or family history of muscle problems; has had previous muscular problems during treatment with other lipid-lowering medicines (eg, other statins or -fibrate medicines); if patient is >70 years; if patient has severe breathing problems.

If any of these apply, the physician will need to carry out a blood test before and possibly during the treatment to predict risk of muscle-related side effects. The risk of muscle-related side effects eg, rhabdomyolysis is known to increase when certain medicines are taken at the same time.

While on Torp Sandoz, the physician will monitor the patient closely if the patient has diabetes or is at risk of developing diabetes. The risk of developing diabetes is likely if the patient has high levels of sugars and fats in the blood, is overweight and has high blood pressure. It is recommended that liver function tests should be performed before the initiation of Torp Sandoz, and thereafter when clinically indicated.

Excipients: Torp Sandoz contains lactose. If patient has an intolerance to some sugars, inform the physician before taking Torp Sandoz.

Effects on the Ability to Drive or Operate Machinery: No data are available concerning any negative effects of Torp Sandoz on human's ability to react.

What happens if I miss a dose of Torp?

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if your next dose is less than 12 hours away. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
