Pregnancy of Azithromycin 500 Mg in details

sponsored

Azithromycin 500 Mg crosses the placenta (Ramsey 2003).

The maternal serum half-life of Azithromycin 500 Mg is unchanged in early pregnancy and decreased at term; however, high concentrations of Azithromycin 500 Mg are sustained in the myometrium and adipose tissue (Fischer 2012; Ramsey 2003).

Azithromycin 500 Mg may be used as an alternative or adjunctive prophylactic antibiotic in females undergoing unplanned cesarean delivery (ACOG 199 2018). Azithromycin 500 Mg is recommended for the treatment of several infections, including chlamydia, gonococcal infections, and Mycobacterium avium complex in pregnant patients (consult current guidelines) (CDC [Workowski 2015]; HHS [OI adult] 2019). Azithromycin 500 Mg may also be used in certain situations prior to vaginal delivery in females at high risk for endocarditis (ACOG 199 2018).

Azithromycin 500 Mg breastfeeding

Azithromycin 500 Mg is excreted into human milk. The manufacturer recommends that caution be used when administering Azithromycin 500 Mg to nursing women.

In one lactating woman receiving Azithromycin 500 Mg 500 mg/day, Azithromycin 500 Mg milk concentration measured 1.3 and 2.8 mcg/mL 1 hour after the first dose and 30 hours after the third dose, respectively.
