Actions of Futasole in details
Futasole is an antibiotic which mode of action is as inhibitor of bacterial protein synthesis resulting in a bactericidal effect. Futasole has a powerful antibacterial activity against a number of gram-positive microorganisms. Staphylococci, including the strains resistant to penicillin, methicillin or other antibiotics, are particularly susceptible to Futasole. Futasole shows no cross-resistance to any other antibiotic agent used in clinical practice.
Futasole has an unusually good ability to penetrate tissue and is widely distributed in the organism. It is of great clinical importance that Futasole provides high concentrations not only in areas well supplied with blood, but also in relatively avascular tissue.
Concentrations exceeding the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for Staphylococcus aureus (0.03-0.16 mcg/mL) have been found in pus, sputum, soft tissues, heart tissues, bone tissues, synovial fluid, sequestra, burn crusts, brain abscesses and intraocularly. Futasole is metabolized in the liver and mainly excreted through the bile, little or none being excreted through the urine. Futasole is generally atoxic and shows no cross-hypersensitivity to other antibiotics in clinical use, which is why Futasole also can be used in many cases where other antibiotics are contraindicated eg, in patients allergic to penicillin or other antibiotics.
In severe or deep-seated infections and when prolonged therapy is required, Futasole should generally be given concurrently with other antistaphylococcal antibiotic therapy to minimize the risk of resistance development. Futasole may be combined with penicillinase-stable penicillins, cephalosporins, erythromycin, aminoglycosides, lincomycin, rifampicin or vancomycin and thus, an additive or synergistic effect is obtained.
How should I take Futasole?
Dosing
The dose of Futasole will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. The following information includes only the average doses of Futasole. If your dose is different, do not change it unless your doctor tells you to do so.
The amount of medicine that you take depends on the strength of the medicine. Also, the number of doses you take each day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are using the medicine.
- For oral dosage form (tablets):
- Osteomyelitis (bone and joint infections) or skin and soft tissue infections:
- Adults—500 mg (2 tablets) three times daily
- Osteomyelitis (bone and joint infections) or skin and soft tissue infections:
- For oral dosage form (suspension):
- Osteomyelitis (bone and joint infections) or skin and soft tissue infections:
- Adults—15 milliliters three times daily
- Children—Up to 1 year of age: 1 milliliter (mL) per kilogram DAILY divided into 3 equal doses; 1 to 5 years of age is 5 mL three times daily; 6 to 12 years of age is 10 mL three times daily.
- Osteomyelitis (bone and joint infections) or skin and soft tissue infections:
- For injection dosage form:

- Adults—500 milligrams three times daily
- Children—Up to 1 year of age to 12 years: 20 milligrams/kilogram DAILY divided into 3 equal doses, infused over at least 2 hours.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Futasole, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage
Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep from freezing.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.
Futasole administration
Futasole: Should be taken with food.
Futasole pharmacology
Futasole acts by penetrating the bacterial cell membrane and reversibly binding to the 50 S subunit of bacterial ribosomes or near the “P” or donor site so that binding of tRNA (transfer RNA) to the donor site is blocked. Translocation of peptides from the “A” or acceptor site to the “P” or donor site is prevented, and subsequent protein synthesis is inhibited. Futasole is effective only against actively dividing organisms. The exact mechanism by which erythmromycin reduces lesions of acne vulgaris is not fully known: however, the effect appears to be due in part to the antibacterial activity of the drug.
