Racemethionine is used to make the urine more acidic. Making the urine more acidic helps to relieve skin irritation in incontinent (loss of bladder control) adults and diaper rash in infants. Rhodimet AT 88 also helps to control strong urine odor.
Racemethionine is available only with your doctor's prescription.
Once a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use, experience may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although this use is not included in product labeling, racemethionine may be used to treat acetaminophen poisoning when the preferred medicine for treatment is not available.

How should I use Rhodimet AT 88?
Use Rhodimet AT 88 as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Take Rhodimet AT 88 with or following a meal.
- If you have difficulty swallowing the capsules, they may be dissolved in juice, water, or warm milk.
- If you miss a dose of Rhodimet AT 88, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Rhodimet AT 88 description
A sulfur containing essential amino acid that is important in many body functions. It is a chelating agent for heavy metals.
Rhodimet AT 88 interactions
Acetaminophen and methotrexate - L-Rhodimet AT 88 may decrease hepatic toxicity in those with acetaminophen overdosage or in those taking methotrexate. Theoretically, it may decrease hepatic toxicity in the case of other potential hepatotoxic drugs, as well. Gentamicin - Rhodimet AT 88 may protect against the ototoxic effects of gentamicin.
