Bambuterol indications

Bambuterol HydrochlorideTablets contain Bambuterol hydrochloride. They belong to a group of medicines called bronchodilators.

Bronchodilators work by relaxing the airways of your lungs, making them wider.

Bambuterol HydrochlorideTablets are used to treat breathing problems in people with asthma and similar conditions.

Uses of Bambuterol in details

Bambuterol is used in adults for the management of asthma, bronchospasm and/or reversible airways obstruction.

Bambuterol description

Bambuterol is a long acting beta-adrenoceptor agonist used in the treatment of asthma. It is a prodrug of terbutaline.

Bambuterol dosage

Adult Initially 10 mg at night. Dose may be increased to 20 mg after 1-2 wk. In patients who previously have tolerated oral β2-agonists well, initial dose is 20 mg. Patients w/ impaired renal function Initially 5 mg. May be increased to 10 mg after 1-2 wk. Elderly Adult dose. Childn 6-12 yr Initially 10 mg, 2-5 yr 5 mg.

Bambuterol interactions

Bambuterol may prolong the muscle-relaxing effect of succinylcholine. This is due to the fact that plasma cholinesterase, which inactivates succinylcholine, is partly inhibited by Bambuterol. The inhibition is dose-dependent and fully reversible after cessation of treatment. This interaction should also be considered with other muscle relaxants, which are metabolized by plasma cholinesterase. β-receptor blocking agents (including eye-drops), especially those are non-selective, may partly or totally inhibit the effect of β-stimulants and may require dose adjustment depending on the individual situation.
