Diflax is used to relieve the painful symptoms of too much gas in the stomach and intestines.

Diflax may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Diflax is available without a prescription.

Once a medicine has been approved for marketing for a certain use, experience may show that it is also useful for other medical problems. Although these uses are not included in product labeling, Diflax is used in certain patients before the following tests:

this antacid is useful for the temporary relief of occasional indigestion and heartburn. Frequent, daily or nightly symptoms usually mean a more serious problem. Antacids by themselves do not correct these problems. The medications that are now available to treat acid problems are generally superior to antacids.

The second and more important use of calcium carbonate is as a source of calcium, necessary for bones and teeth and to prevent osteoporosis. A quart of milk contains about 1500 mg of calcium which is about what you need. Otherwise this or a similar calcium preparation can be taken.

How should I use Diflax?

Use Diflax strips as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Diflax strips.

This product is used to relieve symptoms of extra gas caused by air swallowing or certain foods/infant formulas. Diflax helps break up gas bubbles in the gut.

How to use Diflax

Shake the container well before each use. Give this product by mouth as needed, usually after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by the doctor. Follow all directions on the product package. If you are uncertain about any of the information, consult the doctor or pharmacist.

Fill the dropper to the correct dosage and squeeze the liquid slowly into the baby's mouth, towards the inner cheek. You can also measure the correct dosage with the dropper and mix it in 1 ounce of cool water, infant formula, or juice. Mix well and give the solution to your baby. The proper dosage is based on your child's age and weight.

If you are treating the child yourself (without direction from a doctor), do not use more than 12 doses of Diflax per day.

Clean the dropper well after each use and close the bottle tightly.

If your child's condition persists or worsens, or if you think there may be a serious medical problem, seek immediate medical attention.
