Depression
Adult: Initially, 75 mg daily as a single or in divided doses at night, may increase to 150 mg daily. In severe cases, may increase up to 225 mg daily.
Elderly: Initially, 50-75 mg daily in divided doses.
Maintenance: Half the normal adult dose.
Hepatic impairment: Contraindicated.

Dopress also called as dothiepin is used to treat major depressive disorders and neuropathic pain.
Dopress description
Dopress (INN, BAN) formerly known as dothiepin (USAN), and marketed under the brand names Dopress, Dothep, Thaden, and Dopress, is a tricyclic antidepressant that is used in several European and South Asian countries, as well as Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand. It is not used in the United States.

Dopress interactions
Barbiturates reduce antidepressant effect of Dopress. Raised serum concentrations with methylphenidate. Cigarette smoking enhances metabolism. Increased risk of ventricular arrhythmias when used with drugs that prolong QT interval.
Potentially Fatal: Should not be given concurrently or within 14 days of stopping MAOIs. Potentiates catecholamines sympathomimetics, narcotics and alcohol. Reduces hypotensive activity of bethanidine, guanethidine.
Dopress side effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, tremor, confusional states, paraesthesia, EEG patterns alterations, disorientation; dry mouth, urinary retention, sweating; hypotension, postural hypotension, tachycardia, arrhythmias (including ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation and torsades de pointes), conduction defects, palpitations; increased or decreased libido; constipation, nausea, vomiting; blurred vision. Rarely, dysarthria, extrapyramidal symptoms, paralytic ileus, tremor, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, precipitation of angle-closure glaucoma.
Dopress contraindications
Manic phase of bipolar disorder, arrhythmias, heart block, immediate recovery period after MI. Hepatic impairment. Concomitant admin w/ MAOIs or w/in 14 days after discontinuation.
