What is Ergix?
Dietary management of patients with pulmonary oxidative stress, especially patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Ergix chewable tablets is a medical food. It helps to increase antioxidants in the body.
Ergix indications
Loosens mucus and eases cough.
Respiratory disorders characterized by excessive or viscous and tenacious mucus eg, cold, acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, tracheobronchitis, asthmatic bronchitis and emphysema.
Ergix: In otorhinolaryngology, Ergix is indicated as adjunctive therapy in otitis, sinusitis, nasopharyngitis, tubal otorrhea and in reducing hypersecretion prior to surgery.
How should I use Ergix?
Use Ergix chewable tablets as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Take Ergix chewable tablets by mouth before eating or with a meal.
- Chew Ergix chewable tablets well or allow it to dissolve completely in your mouth before swallowing.
- Drinking extra fluids while you are taking Ergix chewable tablets is recommended. Check with your doctor for instructions.
- Continue to take Ergix chewable tablets even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
- If you miss a dose of Ergix chewable tablets, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Ergix description
Ergix is S-(carboxymethyl) cysteine. Molecular Formula: HOOC-CH2-S-CH2-CH(NH2)-COOH.
Ergix dosage
Tablet: Adults: 2 tabs 3 times daily. This can be reduced to 1 tab 3 times daily after a satisfactory response has been obtained.
Syrup: 250 mg/5 mL: Adults: 1 tbsp 3 times daily. Children 5-12 years: 1 tsp 3 times daily; 2-5 years: 1 tsp 1-2 times daily or as prescribed by physician. 100 mg/5 mL: Children 2-5 years: 1 teaspoonful (5 mL) 1-2 times daily. Infants and children <2 years: ½ teaspoonful (2.5 mL) 1-2 times daily.
Ergix interactions
In human studies, no interference was noted with the activities of antibiotics, sulfonamides, antihistamines or corticosteroids. In animal studies, no interference was noted with the activities of epinephrine, amphetamines, barbiturates or reserpine.

Hypersensitivity to Ergix or the presence of an active peptic ulcer. Although there is no evidence that Ergix has any physical or chemical effect on gastric mucus, the possibility of a change in gastric mucus cannot be excluded.
