Rhinatussol indications
Rhinatussol is a mucolytic agent for the adjunctive therapy of respiratory tract disorders characterised by excessive, viscous mucus, including chronic obstructive airways disease.

Rhinatussol is used along with other medications as adjunctive therapy to treat conditions of the respiratory tract which causes difficulty in breathing, including chronic obstructive airways disease.
Rhinatussol description
Rhinatussol is a mucolytic that reduces the viscosity of sputum and so can be used to help relieve the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and bronchiectasis by allowing the sufferer to bring up sputum more easily. Rhinatussol should not be used with antitussives (cough suppressants) or medicines that dry up bronchial secretions. Rhinatussol is produced by alkylation of cysteine with chloroacetic acid.
Rhinatussol dosage
Capsule: Adult and Children ≥12 years: 1 capsule. Forte Suspension: Adult and Children ≥12 years: 5 mL (1 tsp). 100 mg/5 mL Pediatric Suspension: Children 8-12 years: 15 mL (3 tsp), 4-7 years: 10 mL (2 tsp), 2-3 years: 5 mL (1 tsp). 200 mg/5 mL Pediatric Suspension: Children 8-12 years: 7.5 mL, 4-7 years: 5 mL, 2-3 years: 2.5 mL. InfantOral Drops:
Infants 1-2 years: 1.5 mL. All doses to be taken orally every 8 hrs.
Rhinatussol interactions
mixing Rhinatussol with pholcodine linctus causes precipitation of Rhinatussol from solution but no information is given on whether this incompatibility is with the pholcodine or some component of the formulation used.

Rhinatussol contraindications
Adult Syrup: Gastroduodenal ulceration.
Children Syrup: Known hypersensitivity to any of the components of Rhinatussol Children Syrup, in particular to parabens. Children <2 years due to risk of worsening airway congestion.
