Salcedol indications
Salcedol is used for a symptomatic relief of heartburn, dyspepsia and flatulence.
Salcedol dosage
2-4 tab chewed when required. To be taken between meals & before bedtime.
Salcedol interactions
Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Magnesium hydroxide (Salcedol). Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) because the risk of their side effects may be increased by Magnesium hydroxide (Salcedol)
Azole antifungals (eg, ketoconazole), bisphosphonates (eg, alendronate), cation exchange resins (eg, sodium polystyrene sulfonate), cephalosporins (eg, cephalexin), mycophenolate, penicillamine, quinolone antibiotics (eg, ciprofloxacin), or tetracyclines (eg, doxycycline) because their effectiveness may be decreased by Magnesium hydroxide (Salcedol)
This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Magnesium hydroxide (Salcedol) may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.
Salcedol side effects
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:
Diarrhea.
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); loss of appetite; muscle weakness; nausea; slow reflexes; vomiting.
Salcedol contraindications
Salcedol should not be used in patients who are severally suffering from renal insufficiency, or if there is severe abdominal pain and / or the possibility of bowel obstruction.
Salcedol chewable tablets contain phenylalanine and should not be given to phenylketonurics patients.
