All forms of “hepatic cell damage” as in cases of:
1.Chronic persistent and chronic active hepatitis.
2.Liver cirrhosis.
3.Drug-induced hepatitis.
4.Alcoholic liver disease.
5.Fatty change of the liver.
6.Autoimmune hepatitis.
Uses of Silmi in details
Silmi is a liver protectant and antioxidant. Treatment with Silmi has shown slightly improved liver function, and showed improvement in patients with type 2 diabetes and diabetic nephropathy (kidney disease).
Silmi description
Silmi, an antioxidant flavonoid complex derived from the herb milk thistle (Silybum marianum), has long been used as a liver tonic. Two new studies show that it can reduce insulin resistance (the underpinning of adult-onset diabetes, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia) and diabetic complications. A third study reports that it may have some anti-cancer benefits as well.
Silmi dosage
Severe cases 140 mg tid for 4-6 wk. In all other cases 70 mg tid for 4-6 wk.
Silmi side effects
Occasional laxative effects. Abdominal bloating, diarrhoea, flatulence, loss of appetite, anorexia, nausea, stomach upset.
Silmi contraindications
Hypersensitivity, pregnancy, lactation.
