T P Lincomycin is an antibiotic that fights bacteria.

T P Lincomycin is used to treat severe bacterial infections in people who cannot use penicillin antibiotics.

T P Lincomycin is used only for a severe infection. This medicine will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu.

T P Lincomycin description

Each mL of T P Lincomycin Sterile Solution contains T P Lincomycin hydrochloride equivalent to T P Lincomycin 300 mg.

T P Lincomycin sterile solution contains T P Lincomycin hydrochloride which is the monohydrated salt of T P Lincomycin, a substance produced by the growth of a member of the lincolnensis group of Streptomyces lincolnensis (Fam. Streptomycetaceae).

The chemical name for T P Lincomycin hydrochloride is Methyl 6, 8-dideoxy-6-(1-methyl-trans-4-propyl-L-2-pyrolidinecarboxamido)-1-thio-D-erythro-α-D-galacto-octopyranoside monohydrochloride monohydrate. Its molecular formula is C18H34N2O6S.HCl. H2O and the molecular weight is 461.01.

T P Lincomycin hydrochloride is a white or practically white, crystalline powder and is odorless or has a faint odor. Its solutions are acid and are dextrorotatory. T P Lincomycin hydrochloride is freely soluble in water; soluble in dimethylformamide and very slightly soluble in acetone.

Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Benzyl alcohol 9.45 mg added as preservative.

Adult Serious infections 500 mg 3 times daily 8 hrly. More severe infections ≥500 mg 4 times daily 6 hrly. Childn >1 mth Serious infections 30 mg/kg body wt/day in 3 or 4 divided doses. More severe infections 60 mg/kg body wt/day into 3 or 4 divided doses.
