What is Travocom?
Travocom eye drops are used to treat increased pressure in the eye caused by open-angle glaucoma or hypertension of the eye. Both conditions are caused by high pressure in the eye which can lead to pain or vision changes. Travocom is a prostaglandin.
Travocom is available only with your doctor's prescription.
Travocom indications
Travocom Ophthalmic Solution USP, 0.004% is indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
How should I use Travocom?
Use Travocom drops as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
- Use Travocom drops in the evening unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
- Wash your hands before and after using Travocom drops.
- Tilt your head back. Using your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Drop the medicine into the pouch and gently close your eyes. Immediately use your finger to apply pressure to the inside corner of the eyelid for 1 to 2 minutes. Do not blink. Remove excess medicine around your eye with a clean, dry tissue, being careful not to touch your eye. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them.
- To prevent germs from contaminating your medicine, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface, including the eye. Keep the container tightly closed.
- Use Travocom drops at least 5 minutes apart from any other medicine that you put in your eye.
- Continue to use Travocom drops even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
- If you miss a dose of Travocom drops, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

Uses of Travocom in details
Travocom is used in the treatment of open angle glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eye that causes visual problems) and ocular hypertension (presence of elevated intraocular pressure in the absence of damage to nerve supplying the eye or loss of vision) in adults and in children.
Travocom description
Travocom ophthalmic solution is a topical medication used for controlling the progression of glaucoma or ocular hypertension, by reducing intraocular pressure. It is a synthetic prostaglandin F2alpha analogue. [Wikipedia]
Travocom dosage
The recommended dosage is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. Travocom Ophthalmic Solution USP, 0.004% should not be administered more than once daily since it has been shown that more frequent administration of prostaglandin analogs may decrease the intraocular pressure lowering effect.
Reduction of the intraocular pressure starts approximately 2 hours after the first administration with maximum effect reached after 12 hours.
Travocom Ophthalmic Solution may be used concomitantly with other topical ophthalmic drug products to lower intraocular pressure. If more than one topical ophthalmic drug is being used, the drugs should be administered at least five (5) minutes apart.

- itching eye
- redness of the eye
- redness, swelling, or itching of eyelid
- Blurred or decreased vision
- burning, dry, or itching eyes
- eye color changes
- redness, pain, or swelling of the eye, eyelid, or inner lining of the eyelid
Minor Side Effects
Some Travocom ophthalmic side effects may not need any medical attention. As your body gets used to the medicine these side effects may disappear. Your health care professional may be able to help you prevent or reduce these side effects, but do check with them if any of the following side effects continue, or if you are concerned about them:

- Eye discomfort
- feeling of having something in the eye
- Acid or sour stomach (heartburn or indigestion)
- blood in the urine
- chest pain or tightness
- dry eyes
- eye discharge or excessive tearing
- faintness or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position
- loss of bladder control
- lower back pain
- muscle pain or stiffness
- pain, swelling, or redness in the joints
- pain or burning while urinating
- pelvic pain
- slow or irregular heartbeat (less than 50 beats per minute)
