Nalfan indications
this medicine is indicated for symptomatic control of all allergic conditions responsive to antihistamines, including hay fever, vasomotor rhinitis, urticaria, angioneurotic oedema, food allergy, drug and serum reactions, insect bites.
Also indicated for the symptomatic relief of itch associated with chickenpox in addition to that it ca treat the allergic cough.
Nalfan dosage
Adult & childn >12 yr 10 mL. Childn 6-12 yr 5 mL, 2-5 yr 2.5 mL. All doses to be taken 3 times daily.
Nalfan interactions
Do not take this medicine with any of the following medications:
•MAOIs like Carbex, Eldepryl, Marplan, Nardil, and Parnate
This medicine may also interact with the following medications:
•alcohol
•barbiturates like phenobarbital
•medicines for blood pressure
•medicines for depression, anxiety, or psychotic disturbances
•medicines for sleep
•other medicines for cold, cough or allergy
•stimulant medicines for attention disorders, weight loss, or to stay awake
Nalfan side effects
Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:
•allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
•breathing trouble
•blurred vision
•difficulty passing urine
•fast, irregular heartbeat
•fear, anxiety, restless, tremor
•hallucinations
•high or low blood pressure
•seizures
•unusually weak or tired
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):
•dry mouth, nose, throat
•headache
•loss of appetite
•more sensitive to sunlight
•passing urine more often
•stomach upset, nausea
•trouble sleeping
Nalfan contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any ingredients of product; severe hypertension; severe coronary artery disease; ischemic heart disease; narrow-angle glaucoma; urinary retention; peptic ulcer; as treatment for lower respiratory tract conditions, including asthma; during an asthma attack; during MAOI therapy or for 2 wk after stopping MAOI therapy; newborns or premature infants; breast-feeding mothers.
