Colfen indications
Colfen is a wide spectrum antibiotic effective against most gram positive and gram negative bacteria. It is used specially in treatment of respiratory and enteric infections of poultry caused by E.coli and other strains being sensitive to Colfen.
Colfen dosage
Colfen™ should be administered once by subcutaneous injection at a dose rate of 40 mg Colfen/kg body weight (6 mL/100 lb). Do not administer more than 15 mL at each site. The injection should be given only in the neck. Injection sites other than the neck have not been evaluated.

Colfen interactions
Colfen should not be used with thiamfenicol,chloramphenicol and aminoglycosids.
Colfen side effects
Transient inappetence, diarrhea, decreased water consumption, and injection site swelling have been associated with the use of Colfen in cattle. In addition, anaphylaxis and collapse have been reported post-approval with the use of another formulation of Colfen in cattle.
Colfen contraindications
Colfen should not be given to laying hens the eggs of which, are intended for human consumption.
