Glomax indications

Glomax description
Glomax is a layered silicate mineral. Glomax is used in ceramics, medicine, coated paper, as a food additive, in toothpaste, as a light diffusing material in white incandescent light bulbs, and in cosmetics. Until the early 1990s it was the active substance of anti-diarrhoea medicine Kaopectate.
Glomax dosage
Oral
Diarrhoea
Adult: As adjunct to rehydration therapy: Up to 24 g daily may be used in divided doses. May be used in combination with other antidiarrhoeal agents.
Glomax interactions
May reduce the absorption of a number of drugs (e.g. tetracycline, lincomycin, digoxin, aspirin, chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, phenothiazine).
Glomax side effects
May cause electrolyte imbalance by increasing sodium and potassium loss in the stools, especially in elderly, children and in severe diarrhoea.
Glomax contraindications
Intestinal obstruction, spastic bowel condition. Childn <6 yr.
